ADOPTIONS DO HAPPEN

If you have read our blog, you know that we are a couple who is hoping to adopt, so how do we know that Adoption happens? Because after waiting 355 days our adoption happened.

How do I start to tell you a story, I still don't believe myself. Well of course I had a total brillant way to share this with you, but we are still in Wyoming (waiting for the okay to leave the state) and my brilliant idea will have to wait until we are back home, and I have the Mac Daddy.

Last week when I told you we were in Wyoming getting a little R&R that wasn't exactly the truth, we were getting little CA.
Charlee Aletheia

She was born last Tuesday, she weighed 6 lbs 8 oz and was 20 3/4 in long. She is even cuter in person!! Her birth parents allowed us to be part of this special day with them, a day we will never forget and was better than anything we could have dreamed of.

Wednesday, was one of the most bitter sweet emotional days we have ever experienced in our lives. It was the day of placement, when the paperwork is signed. We have come to love and care about her birth mother Elle and her family and although we had just met her birth father Kolby and his family we too knew that this day did not come without a price. We are so excited to have Charlee in our home, but we know that it is through unconditional love and sacrifice that this happened and this is something that will never be over looked.
This is an open adoption and through emails and visits we have gotten to know her birth parents and many times Elle has said that she only wanted what was best for her baby girl and she wanted her to be happy. We will do whatever is best for Charlee and try to teach her how to lead a happy life.

Because this is an open adoption we will be staying in contact with Elle and Kolby, through emails, pictures, letters and visits. Charlee will always know she is adopted, she will always know that Elle and Kolby are her birth parents and they will always know how she is doing and what she is doing. What a wonderful blessing this is in our lives.

This is a designated adoption, meaning she found out we were trying to adopt through someone that we knew and when she went to our agency she had already selected us. Her mother knows Karst's mother and that is how they found out about us. This is why you should always be nice to your mother-in-law, she could help you find your family.

We just thought you might want to know that Adoption does happen, not always when we want them to, or the way we want them to. I will never know all the answers why this adoption happened sooner for us then other couples, or why it happened the way it did. What I do know is that this did not happen because of who we are or what we did. This adoption happened because of the love that our Heavenly Father has for Charlee, Elle, Kolby and us, and because Elle and Kolby excercised their free will in the manner they felt was best for Charlee.

I have learned that sometimes not being in control of everything can work out better than anything I could ever do.

This is a picture I have waited 10 years to see, Karst is an unbelievable dad, and I can't wait to tell you more, but right now I would rather watch Charlee sleep.

Oh just happiness ALL over the place, miracles EVERYWHERE! I LOVE those sleeping pictures. I am in awe to see the birth mom and birth father involved. How sweet it is for your bundle. I love you families who are so selfless to open up your home to the birth families. It is an experience beyond words. Every time I see an adoption take place, my heart skips a beat, and I think literally. Isn't it amazing that one could not really do anything while they sleep and you could still what them for hours? What her away Kim and enjoy every minute of it as you DESERVE this miracle!!!! LOVE IT!!

YIPPY!

Congratulations you two. What exciting news. It is wonderful and you will make great parents. I suppose that this is why people should keep in touch so they don't wake up one morning and all the sudden find out that something wonderful had happened to a friend and not know about it.

I found your blog and I love your adoption story. My husband and I also adopted our little girl. We have an open adoption with her birth parents. It is the most wonderful thing to be able to get to know our daughters birth family. We do a lot of emails, pictures, and we have done a visit this past year. Some people don't understand the whole open adoption thing but the more that love your child the better. No one can have to much love. Adoption is such a wonderful blessing. Congratulations.
