The chore of eating. . .

How do I put into words the frustration of trying to get Charlee who is now 14 months old to eat?

Is my cooking really that bad? Just getting her to take one bite becomes a wrestling match.
Once she has that first bite, she might try two or three others and then if she decides she doesn't like it, that is it. The fight is on and she is not going to back down.
The one thing she will always eat, cereal. No matter the kind or the flavor with or without milk, this has been the way many meals have ended.
In talking to other mom's who share this frustration, I know I am not alone. Some days are better than others. At times I think I could skip the fight, just throw the food on the floor myself. But the kid needs to have some fun, right.

What she likes today, she might not like tomorrow. Don't even try to hide the veggies, she will know and the fight is on.

Here are the foods she will almost always eat:
Coco Puffs
Lucky Charms
Graham Crackers
A few of the "Gerber" snacks.
Mac n' Cheese
Grilled Cheese
Spaghetti O's
And any Chocolate

I would give you a list of the food she doesn't like to eat, but this post is already longer than I thought.

Interestingly she will let Karst feed her, but when I do she gets really frustrated. I don't see what we do different. She takes forever to eat by herself, but will eat more if I am not paying attention.

I have resorted to bowls with suction cups on the bottom, so the food lasts a little bit longer, before she grabs it and throws it. Maybe she just likes getting three baths a day.

Any suggestions? Any volunteers? Anyone want to mop?

Krista is pretty picky too. One thing I have found that she will eat all the time is frozen fruit. I just buy bananas, pears, apples, peaches, whatever, chop them up into bite-size pieces and freeze them. When she wants a snack, we pull them out of the freezer and she will gobble them up. Good luck!

Your little girl is the cuttest little thing! Well the only thing I can say about this whole eating thing is what the doctor said to me when I went in all worried because Lily was not eating.... She said "Don't worry about it, just keep providing food for her and have her sit with you and know that she can eat but don't worry. They eat when they are hungrey! She looks healthy so don't worry about it" and well I have noticed that is true. We have her come sit for prayers and talk about how good it is and sometimes she eats the whole plate and other times she says "No Thank you and goes and plays! SHe does eat when she is hungrey about ever other day or so! she drinks a ton though
Proably not too much help but that has what has happened to us! I hope you guys are doing good and tax/audit season doesn't get to be too much!
Tell Karsten HI!

Kids are funny. Luckily for us Zachary hasn't been super picky. If daddy is having brown sugar oatmeal and a banana; that's what he wants too. If I have pizza and fresh pinnapple; he'll eat it. Some days when he's not hungry, he just drinks his milk and has a few cheerios and raisins. Kids are very good at knowing when they're hungry or not. Good luck!

Charlee must have figured out I was talking about her, because the last two days she has been eating like a champion. I have never seen her eat so much. It is great. I guess she knows when she is hungry. I'll just follow her lead.

Go with the flow. The good news is that kids usually eat when they are hungry. I always take away my kids food when it ends up on the floor because I don't like to mop.

Smoothies are a good way to get calories in though. Kids love straws!
